Tuna filled lettuce wraps

Hello All !!

Thank you so much again for all the wonderful likes and love from you all . This week I have a big news to share with you all I won the local dish of the month from live green Toronto which is a part of city of Toronto. I am very happy about that achievement and it makes me incredibly happy also being a new blogger . In that happiness I have decided to share a very healthy and yummy recipe with all of you . So at this happy moment I would like to present you all a yummy and delicious lettuce wraps filled with tuna .

I had a wonderful trip to St Jacobs market with few of my friends last week (that post is coming up 😉 ) , I did buy a lot of fresh and locally grown produce from there . I was totally attracted to the wonderful peppers I saw there and they were just for 3 bucks, that’s it I grabbed it. I wanted to make something different with those beauties other than a normal sabzi (dry vegetable dish) or an omelette. So I decided in making a wrap without using any grains!!! which is actually a much more healthier version.

I have used canned tuna here but other options you can use here is fresh tuna or mahi mahi . If you are using fresh tuna steam it in little water , salt and turmeric till it is soft and fork it . For vegetarian option you can use tofu . Marinate tofu in red chilli, turmeric, coriander and cumin powder then sear it on the pan for few minutes . Then follow the following method and add tofu instead of fish , you have the vegetarian option . So now let’s get into the details of the recipe

Happy Cooking!!!

Romaine Lettuce- 4 to 5 leaves , two wraps are actually more than good for one person
Ginger- chopped one teaspoon
Garlic- chopped one teaspoon
Onions- medium half chopped
Paprika- half teaspoon
Turmeric- 1/4 teaspoon
Coriander powder- 1 teaspoon
Cumin powder- 1/2 teaspoon
Canned Tuna – 2 opened and drained , if you are using fresh fish use two or three medium fillet
Grape Tomatoes- A handful
Olive Oil- one tablespoon
Peppers- all beautiful colors as much as you need
Salt- as needed

1. Clean , wash and pat dry romaine lettuce leaves and keep it aside

2. Heat oil in a pan add chopped ginger and garlic to it . Fry it well till they become soft.

3.Add sliced onions to it and fry till it is transparent

4.Add all the masalas and salt to this and fry in medium heat without burning .

5. Now add the fish to it and fry it for 2 to 5 minutes on medium heat

6. Add grape tomatoes to it and fry only for two minutes

7. Next step is the fun part adding the peppers!! You can add how much ever you can . I added all three colours but make sure you turn off the stove and add . This is to maintain a crunch to it

8. Wait till it cools then spread it on a clean lettuce, spread some tahini sauce on it and serve.
